Snow Shoe Rails to Trails- SSRT

The SSRT is an excellent trail-easy to ride and very scenic.  It follows an old railroad bed for 20-40 miles, depending on the route.

 
Some of the outstanding features are:  the Viaduct Bridge; route through an abandoned railroad tunnel:  old coke ovens that once processed coal into coke-for the steel industry.  note: The one picture is not of the existing coke ovens-it is just used to show what a complete oven would look like!

   You need to purchase a permit to ride-this insures that all riders have insurance and a legal registration.  Be sure to stop at Newman's Sandwich Shop in Clarence-the food is great and reasonable-say hello to Rhonda, the owner!
