Rough and Tumble Show

If you're a curious person who likes old machines- this is the place for you. Every August the Rough and Tumble Folks hold their annual Steam and Machine show- just west of Gap, Pa. Here you'll see it all! They have dozens of hit and miss engines, large steam tractors from the teens, antique cars, and plenty of great food. They even have a "Play Field" where antique steam shoves and dozers dig and play in the dirt. It is a sand box for adults!
Around 3:30 each day they have the "Parade of Power". Ma, Pa and even some kids drive their ancient machines past the grandstand-chugging, smoking, and tooting their steam horns. It's a blast! (nice pun)

Best Old Hunting Lodge in Pa.

My friend Bruce belongs to a hunting lodge along with 20 other members. It is a beautiful log structure built in 1920-has a large stone fireplace and sleeps 25. It sits on top of a mountain in central Pa.- complete with deer, bear and copperheads.

Ag Progress Days- Penn State University

Ag Progress is a winner-it's big, fun, interesting and free. You'll see all kinds of outdoor equipment- from small chain saws to giant threshing machines complete with demonstrations.
New innovations abound-like bedding cattle on beach sand and then washing the "used" sand and re-using it over and over.
Another company makes water troughs and snow plows from giant discarded tires.
One interesting and innovative machine makes its own gravel road. It grinds large rocks and deposits crushed rocks behind-making a gravel road as it moves.
