Daytona Bike Week

My friend Bruce and I rode the GS Giants Trans Florida Ride-it started in St. Augustine and ended at the Gulf Coast.   It was a lot of deep sand riding-tough going-we ended up taking some back roads just to get out of the sand.
Our next stop was Bike Week.  We camped with a lot of other bikers and did the bar stops and watched the sights on Main Street.  I was excited to see an old fashioned "Wall of Death" at one of the bars.  This was one of my favorites at the Clearfield County Fair..The modern ones in Vegas ride in a steel dome, but the old-timers

rode around on the inside of a gigantic barrel.  Great Fun!!!

PS  We were the oldest "Spring Breakers" on the beach!!!

For the Birds

A few friends and I made 19 bird feeder kits-for the pre-schoolers to assemble. It was my grandson's class and they were really excited.  We made them easy to put together-pre-drilled holes and letter coding-thank goodness they knew their letters.  I believe it was the first time some had ever used a screwdriver.  They now know, "righty-tighty;  lefty-loosie"

We even gave each child a packet of bird seed to "get them going"!

.  I don't know who had more fun-us, the kids, or the teacher!

HABITAT FOR NON-HUMANITY-FOR THE BIRDS

In nature, Wood Ducks nest in hollow trees.  However, a prime nesting tree with a view (they nest near water) is sometimes difficult to find.  We lend them a hand by making artificial boxes and placing them on trees or posts in ponds, swamps and lakes.  This year we volunteered to make boxes for the Pa. Game Commission.  It's a fun project and makes a sleety, snowy  cold winter day , enjoyable!
