Semi Wild Hog's Hogs Great Lakes Circle Tour

I have a wanderlust-I love to roam-especially with a motorcycle loaded with camping gear.  A tent and sleeping bag gives you freedom-no motel, no problem.  It adds a little spice to the trip  (we never make motel reservations)
For my "wandering fix" my old friend Tom and I headed West-he on his Harley and I on a BMW 1150 RT.

Semi Wild Hog's Tour- Butler, Pa.

The first stop on our journey was to visit my old friend, Bill D.  We started running around together in the 50's-double dating,drive-ins,skinny d......never mind!  His new bride to be-Joyce, met us for dinner. She is a delight -the wedding is in June!

Semi Wild Hog's Great Lake Circle Tour-Cleveland and Auburn

The next day we headed to Cleveland and stopped to visit another high school friend and his restaurant-Brown Bag Burgers.  When we arrived Paul was reading customer's cards and he shared a few with us.  All were full of praise for his food-which was excellent as he treated us to lunch. Some of the cards he posted and others we read, laughtd and tossed-too many expletives.

One of our main objectives of this trip was to attend the Auburn Cord Duesenburg Spring Meet in Auburn Indiana.  We had so much fun that Tom joined the club and is looking for a car.-

Semi Wild Hog's Tour-Lambeau Field, Green Bay

I hate going around Chicage on Route 80-plus my Easy Pass wasn't working-but it's a "hangnail" in the scheme of life.

We stopped in Oswego Ill and visited Connie and Terry- old friends and gracious hosts.   The next we headed north to Green Bay and the famous Lambeau Field.  Stadiums are fun but I am not a "groupie"  One of my friend's bucket list items is to visit all major baseball stadiums in the USA-different strokes for different folks.

Semi Wild Hog's Great Lakes Tour-North Bay Ontario

We arrived at North Bay after a hard day's ride-dirty and tired-we needed a place to stay and shower.  I chcked for campgrounds- nothing!  I then called a few motels and they were all filled- it was graduation day !  I belong the the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and they publish a booklet listing members who offer services to touring bikers.  They range from camping spots to tool loaning and trailer pick-up for broken down bikes.  I checked the North Bay  Listing and there were three guys and one had offered camping.  I called and in 15 minutes he met us at Tim Hortons and we followed him back to the house.  His name was Marty and a really nice guy.  He told us not to bother setting up tents as we could stay in his large travel trailer parked in the yard.  Yes- a bathroom-queen bed, TV-Life is Good!

Semi Wild Hog's Circle Lakes Tour-Algoquin Provincal Park

We stopped at the Local Legion in North Bay and met the "guys".  They were "Yankee friendly" and we had the best time. They told us not to miss touring the Algonquin Provincal Park so we took their advice and were not sorry.  The park is huge-beautiful-and even has a turn of the century restored logging camp.

Semi Wild Hog's Trip-Roberts B&B-Westport Ontario

Our next and final destination is one of the best Bed and Breakfasts in Ontario-the Roberts House in the picturesque town of Westport.  Rob and Marianne run a first class operation, plus they are old friends from Quakertown.  We had a super time-were treated royally with gourmet breakfasts, luxuriously high threadcount sheets,  and superb hospitality.http://www.therobertshouse.com/

Semi Wild Hogs-Thousand Islands

The next day  the three of us drove down to Alexandria Bay and toured the Thousand Islands.  If you haven't done this, by all means put it on your buxket list.  Take a tour boat and be sure to visit Heart Island and the Boldt Castle.  It is amazing what money can do.  At one time there were 300 workers employed on the construction  of the castle.  The boat house alone is a historic marvel.

We did 2500 miles-had great times, saw old friends and made new ones-Life is Really Good!
