Carnivals and Amusement Parks-Knobels
I love carnivals and amusement parks. The biggest events of the summer were the coming of the local carnival and county fair. Here was a new, exciting world: here were scantly clad Hoochie Coochie dancers; leather clad tattooed (there were very few tattoos in those days)daredevil motorcyclists riding inside the "wall of death" ; plus bearded ladies, snake charmers, etc. WOW!
In the past two weeks I was in my "Happy Place" twice-once at Knobels and the other at a local Carnival.
Carnival- I "join" for a short time
As a teenager, I would help the carnies set up. My mother warned me not to hang out there-but, she lacked credibility as her prediction of my future self-induced blindness had not happened.
We would take a break at the mess tent-great smells of frying burgers and sausages, onions, peppers and lots of grease.
Carnival-fine dining
At the local carnival in Quakertown I B.S-ed with the help-told them my fond youth memories, and the boss said those magic words, "Would you like to eat dinner with us in the mess tent"! I concealed my orgasmic excitement, like the scene in "When Harry Met Sally" and said with a huge smile, "I sure would"!
I talked-I ate- I talked. Life is really really GOOD!
Knobels- America's best (and only) free amusement park
They have beautiful flowers everywhere,it is dog friendly, you may bring your own food, and the park and campground is exceptionally clean. It should be on everybody's "bucket list"!
